Role Summary 

Oversee the Leer base’s support function, ensuring smooth operations across finance, HR, logistics, administration, and staff management. The role is responsible for cash management, budgeting, procurement, fleet, inventory, contracts, and timely reporting. It also includes supervising support staff, maintaining security procedures, and improving transparency and accountability. This is a field-based role in a remote, basic, and demanding environment requiring strong resilience and coordination skills.

Project Overview 

Medair’s Leer project supports vulnerable host and IDP communities in South Sudan through nutrition, WASH, health, and mental health services. Its goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality by delivering CMAM, WASH, and health interventions in Leer County, Unity State. The project focuses on improving access to essential services for people affected by conflict and displacement.  

Workplace & Conditions

Leer, Unity State, South Sudan.  This is a field-based position, and this role will be accommodated within Medair compound in Leer County, with basic living amenities  

Responsibilities:

  • Project support management: Oversee base operations, logistics, fleet, procurement, inventory, equipment, and maintenance to keep the programme running efficiently.
  • People management: Supervise support staff, manage recruitment, onboarding, training, appraisals, and day-to-day team performance.
  • Administration: Manage contracts, invoices, payments, reporting, and maintain accurate, transparent records for all base transactions.
  • Finance and accountability: Prepare and track budgets, monitor expenditures, ensure cash control, and support audit-ready financial processes.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, honest, and supportive communication between programme and support teams to keep everyone informed and working effectively.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies

  • University degree qualification in Business Management, Administration or equivalent
  • 1-year post-qualification experience in a relevant profession.
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in the NGO or humanitarian sector, preferably in field-based support roles.
  • Knowledge of finance, logistics, procurement, and humanitarian standards is an advantage.
