Families are fleeing their homes with nothing

Lebanon is currently in a state of emergency. The number of forcibly displaced people is rising sharply as renewed hostilities claim more lives. Families are fleeing with only what they can carry, some sheltering in the streets, others seeking refuge in overcrowded public schools now serving as collective shelters.

  • Immediate support is required to ensure the basic survival and well-being of the communities we walk alongside.
  • The most urgent needs of the displaced communities include access to shelter, clean water, basic relief items, healthcare and mental health support.
  • As of 4th March, approximately 200,000 people are currently internally displaced according to IOM, including 60,000 people seeking refuge in collective shelters.
  • Massive airstrikes have hit multiple locations across Lebanon, including Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and the South, causing widespread destruction to essential infrastructure, devastating communities, and forcibly displacing thousands.
  • Within the first 24 hours of escalation, thousands of families were forced to flee — leaving behind their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. Right now, over 200,000 people are displaced, sleeping wherever they can find safety.

This surge of violence is compounding an already severe humanitarian crisis: damaged hospitals, blocked roads, disrupted supply chains, and overwhelmed communities with nowhere left to turn.

Within hours, thousands of families were forced to run — leaving behind their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. Today, more than 29,000 people, including 9,000 children, are displaced, sleeping wherever they can find safety. For many children, the floor is their bed tonight.

The needs are urgent: shelter, blankets, mattresses, and medical care.

"My home to me, was the safest place in the world. Now, I just hope we survive each day. I never imagined we'd be living like this, constantly moving, searching for safety, with no end in sight," says Zainab, a 72 year old internally displaced Lebanese community member that fled her home with her family to a school turned collective shelter.
