Families fled their homes with nothing

The conflict in Lebanon has escalated sharply as part of the wider regional conflict between Iran and the Gulf. Since 2 March 2026, intense airstrikes have hit areas across the south, the Bekaa Valley, Beirut, and beyond — forcing residents to flee under constant threat.

• Airstrikes have hit multiple areas north and south of the Litani River, including South Lebanon, Nabatieh, Beirut, Bekaa, Baalbek-El Hermel, Mount Lebanon, and Akkar.

• Israel issued displacement warnings for 53 villages across South Lebanon, Nabatieh, and West Bekaa.

• The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reports at least 52 deaths and more than 154 injuries as of 3 March — with numbers still rising.

This surge of violence is compounding an already severe humanitarian crisis: damaged hospitals, blocked roads, disrupted supply chains, and overwhelmed communities with nowhere left to turn.

Within hours, thousands of families were forced to run — leaving behind their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. Today, more than 29,000 people, including 9,000 children, are displaced, sleeping wherever they can find safety. For many children, the floor is their bed tonight.

Families have lost everything — shelter, food, and medical care are needed urgently. Health facilities are overwhelmed, and access to clean water and sanitation is critical.

• Over 50,000 people from Lebanon including Lebanese refugees and others have fled to Syria in search of safety.  

• Immediate assistance is required to ensure the basic survival and well-being of the affected.

• Immediate needs include blankets and mattresses, as families fled their homes urgently.

• The most urgent needs of the displaced communities include access to shelter, clean water, healthcare, psychological first aid, and protection.  

• Humanitarian needs are rising rapidly as families seek safety, placing additional strain on already overstretched public infrastructure and host communities.
