Syria and Turkiye one year after the earthquakes

When two earthquakes struck Syria and Türkiye on 6th February 2023, killing more than 59,000 people and leaving millions homeless without access to basic shelter, nutrition and health services. Medair was one of the first NGOs to mobilise and arrive in location – in this case, within 24 hours. 

While the initial response was swift and reactive – providing thousands of families with blankets, tents, stoves, torches and essential hygiene items – there are many more stories to be told about Medair’s work in the months following the earthquake, our ongoing programmes and our plans for the year ahead.
