Role Summary 

The MEAL Manager supports the provision of timely and appropriate Health, Nutrition, MHPSS, and WASH assistance for the Sudanese population. The MEAL Manager is responsible for assessments and MEAL/IM activities within the programme. They manage and oversee MEAL and IM staff.

Project Overview 

The purpose of Medair’s programme in Sudan is to save lives and alleviate human suffering amongst displaced people and vulnerable host communities. Medair’s programme provides support to people affected by conflict, disease and disaster by providing basic services including Health, Nutrition, WASH, MHPSS, and more.

Workplace & Conditions 

Position based in Khartoum, with frequent travel to field bases across Sudan.

Responsibilities:

• Train MEAL and IM staff in assessment tools, monitoring, indicator tracking, data management, and reporting.  

• Collect/manage assessment data for programming. Develop/modify assessment tools. Contribute to project design and proposal developments.

• Monitor all Health, Nutrition, MHPSS, and WASH activities. Develop MEAL tools and support donor and audit compliance and processes.

• Oversee evaluations and promote accountability principles, ensuring beneficiary accountability is maintained through adequate feedback mechanisms and the development of AAP systems and materials.  

• Represent Medair to collaborate with external entities to enhance program effectiveness and transparency.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:

• University degree in public health, statistics, international development, or related  

• Excellent working knowledge of the English language (speaking and writing)

• 2 years relevant work experience in the humanitarian sector, preferably including IM and MEAL activities

• Experience in survey design, data collection, analysis and use, including with software such as ODK and Magpi

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word Outlook and PowerPoint), and statistical software

Behavioural Competencies

• Ability to work in cross-cultural settings with good inter-personal and conflict resolution skills

• Strong leadership skills with a supportive management style and ability to take initiative

• Strong organisational skills and capacity to analyse and prioritise tasks

• Attention to details with high numerical, problem solving and document writing skills
