Why Kenya?

The Horn of Africa region faces an unprecedented hunger crisis. Prolonged drought in northern Kenya has destroyed crops and killed livestock for the fourth year in a row, while decreasing access to safe drinking water contributes to the spread of waterborne diseases. Coupled with rising food prices and challenging economic conditions, this is contributing to widespread hunger. Existing services are struggling to meet the increased needs, and women and children are most at risk.

How You Can Help

Medair is working in the most vulnerable areas of Marsabit County, where families are experiencing emergency levels of acute malnutrition and where some must travel up to 30 kilometres a day in search of safe drinking water. With you, we can support health clinics delivering urgent nutrition support to young children, pregnant women, and new mothers, and provide safe drinking water in areas where this precious resource is increasingly scarce.
