Medair deeply saddened by death of national colleague in South Sudan

Medair is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its nationally recruited colleagues in Leer County, South Sudan on 01 December 2021.

This staff member was a part of Medair’s health team in Leer Country, providing essential health services to the community. They were an important member of our team since February 2019.

“We grieve the loss of our colleague and condemn the act of violence that took their life. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to our colleague’s family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time,” says Anke Meiburg , Country Director for South Sudan. “We remain committed to the people of Leer County and South Sudan, where humanitarian needs remain particularly high.”

Medair continues to gather information about the circumstances of our colleague’s death. Medair has been working in South Sudan since 1992, delivering essential health and nutrition, safe water and hygiene, shelter, and infrastructure support to families affected by insecurity and the extensive humanitarian needs.
