Medair helps impoverished populations through multi-sectoral humanitarian programmes that are tailored to their needs, some of which are very specific due to their urgent or critical nature. This is why Medair has created four funds that allow the organisation to make a strong commitment both on a financial level as well as in sending personnel with specialist skills into the field. All donations made specifically to these funds are used for that designated purpose only.

One of Medair’s two principal undertakings is to help people who are the victims of crises and who live in areas that are relatively inaccessible and no longer in the public eye. Thanks to this fund, Medair ensures that these people are not forgotten and aims at sensitising donors to support them in this mission. |

The results of war and natural catastrophes are often unpredictable. Medair’s second principal undertaking is to act quickly before it is too late for the victims involved. The initial expenses that result from emergency operations must be covered swiftly and even if the generosity of our donors is well-intentioned, we cannot always wait for the promise of donations to follow through. Thanks to this fund, which is topped up continuously, help can be provided immediately.

1.1 billion people in the world do not have access to safe water, roughly one-sixth of the world’s population.
(Global WASH Forum)
1.8 million people die every year from diarrhoeal diseases, 88% of these diseases are attributed to unsafe water supply, inadequate sanitation and hygiene.
(WHO)
Medair addresses these challenges in its country programmes through several complementary activities by constructing new and maintaining existing safe water points (wells, distribution systems, filters etc.), by building latrines and by providing hygiene education.

Although there are medicines for many illnesses, it is the lack of medical care that is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people. Every minute, one child dies through lack of medical treatment. In the majority of countries where Medair is active, it invests in programmes to supply vaccines, treatment, maternity kits, mosquito nets to combat malaria etc. |

Gifts made to last. This foundation was created to provide a unique opportunity for those who want to contribute lasting gifts to Medair. The main purpose of the Invest in Aid Foundation is to build up financial capital that will produce interest income that Medair can use to support its activities. The foundation resources can come from legacies, financial or non-financial donations given with the specific purpose of producing a lasting benefit to Medair and the people we serve.
