The Federal Ministry of Health in Sudan has recently confirmed, through the World Health Organisation (WHO), that the outbreak of haemorrhagic fever in South Kordofan and the Nuba Mountains is in fact Yellow Fever. Yellow Fever is a potentially fatal disease, that is spread by mosquitoes, and can kill up to 50% of patients who develop the severe form. South Kordofan is situated in centre of Sudan, Africa’s largest country, and during the last month, over 448 suspected cases have been reported in the region, of which 117 people have died.
