Opportunities for Former Medair Relief Workers

Extend your humanitarian career with Medair

Former Medair Relief Workers - those who have been part of the Medair family in the field - are very precious to us and are often a valuable resource for future experienced field opportunities.

Former staff are often our best future recruits, returning to familiar territory with us for another year or more, or perhaps to a brand new setting with new challenges.

If you are a Former Medair Relief Worker and would like to be considered for one of our experienced field opportunities, please contact the Medair HR department directly.

Short-term contracts

Former staff who have done relief work in the field with Medair are also eligible and encouraged to serve in short-term field contracts (periods of 2 weeks to 5 months) on an ad-hoc basis.

Such contracts typically fall into 2 categories:

  • Sector-specific projects
  • Emergency response
Sector-specific projects

Medair sometimes requires the short-term assistance of sector-specific specialists for a particular project. In these cases, we call on former staff who have done relief work with Medair in the field to conduct special projects such as impact evaluations, needs assessments, and programme surveys.

These sector-specific specialists need to have the flexibility to be released from their current work obligations for a period of up to 5 months. However, these short-term contracts can be arranged well in advance, so they do not require the specialist to be “on call” to leave at a moment’s notice.

Emergency Response

When a sudden emergency strikes, Medair is able to launch effective relief efforts by drawing from a pool of experienced Medair humanitarian workers who are not currently working in the field.

In most cases, our “Emergency Response Pool” is made up of people who are not working for Medair in any capacity at the time. Former staff make arrangements with their employer to effectively be “on call” - so that they can be released from their current obligations at short notice (48 hours to 1 week).

Short-term emergency response workers can remain in the field for a period of a few weeks to up to 5 months.

If you are a Former Medair Relief Worker and would like to be considered for one of these short-term opportunities, please contact the Medair HR department directly.

Volunteers

If you have decided to stay in your home country and you still have a passion for Medair and our work, you could become a local Volunteer.

Former Medair Relief Workers who have helped us in the past are an enormous support to our work, enabling us to increase our efficiency in our Medair awareness, fundraising, recruiting and prayer activities - all of which provides more resources to support our beneficiaries in the field programmes.

Our Affiliate Offices often work in small teams and greatly appreciate any help Forrmer Medair Relief Workers can give - especially if it involves sharing about your Medair experience with family, friends and churches or at events.

Your help could be a few hours a month or a day each week, a few church meetings or events a year, or helping in the Affiliate Office, or based from your home, depending on your availability and interest. With your rich experience with Medair in the field, your support will be greatly appreciated and will enrich our national activities and enable us to do more.

For more details of how your enthusiasm, energy, skills and experience could support Medair and our work, please contact your nearest Affiliate Office, by clicking on this link
