Medair employs approximately 120 internationally recruited staff in our field programmes, along with around 1,000 nationally recruited staff from our countries of operation.
We also employ 70 staff members from different countries at our international headquarters (HQ) in Switzerland, and our affiliate offices employ staff in France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Wanted: Experienced Professionals
Our teams are composed of professionals, some of whom may be new to relief work, but all of whom have valuable work experience in their profession.
Medair’s three main sectors of expertise are Health Services, Water and Sanitation, and Shelter and Infrastructure, so we are particularly looking for professionals from these disciplines.
We also need experienced staff with a background in management, finance, human resources, logistics, ICT, marketing and communications, or administration. These roles are needed both in the field and at our international headquarters.

Field Staff
Medair’s field staff bring life-saving help, dignity, and hope to beneficiaries in some of the most vulnerable countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
At Medair, we believe it benefits our working culture to invest in teams with both Experienced Relief Workers and New Relief Workers – so we encourage applications for both types of positions.
Experienced Relief Workers
For Medair, an Experienced Relief Worker has at least 18 months of relief work experience under their belt, so the realities of on-the-ground work in the humanitarian sector are well known to them. They bring a wealth of relevant relief experience which helps maintain and improve the quality of Medair’s work in the field.
Experienced Relief Workers attend a comprehensive HQ briefing and fly soon after to their field programme.

New Relief Workers
You don't need two years of experience in a war zone and a Ph.D. in International Relations to work with us. Unlike most humanitarian agencies, Medair provides employment opportunities for people who have never worked as relief workers before.
In this way, qualified professionals--especially those with several years of experience in their field--have the opportunity to gain field experience while using their professional skills, and are able to grow into experienced Medair relief workers in a real-world environment.
