Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF)

 

The Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) for Sudan is a pooled funding mechanism for humanitarian activities in Sudan; first established in 2005 as a pilot project and fully implemented and operational since 2006. Only humanitarian projects included in the UN and Partners Work Plan for Sudan (the Work Plan) are eligible for CHF funding.

Department for International Development U.K. (DFID)

So in 1997 it created a separate government department - the Department for International Development (DFID) - to meet the many challenges of tackling world poverty. It is DFID’s job to make sure every pound of British aid works its hardest to help the world’s poor.

EuropeAid is the Directorate-General of the European Commission that is responsible for implementing external aid programmes and projects across the world. It works closely with EU neighbouring countries, Russia, the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) regions, Latin America and Asia. EuropeAid aims to deliver development aid in an efficient and effective way. The focus is on maximising the value and impact of aid funding by making sure support is provided in a speedy and accountable fashion.

The European Union is one of the world’s largest providers of financing for humanitarian aid operations. Since 1992, the Commission has provided billions of euros for humanitarian projects in more than 140 countries, easing the suffering of millions of disaster victims in crisis zones outside the E.U.

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)

Sida's Swedish development cooperation is part of a global cooperation in which Sweden is one of many international participants. In order to carry out its work Sida cooperates with Swedish government agencies, organisations such as Medair, and associations and international bodies like the UN, the EU and the World Bank.

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)

 

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is Switzerland’s international cooperation agency within the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). In operating with other federal offices concerned, SDC is responsible for the overall coordination of development activities and cooperation with Eastern Europe, as well as for the humanitarian aid delivered by the Swiss Confederation.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

USAID provides assistance in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Near East, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe and Eurasia. The agency works in 100 developing countries and in close partnership with private voluntary organisations such as Medair, indigenous groups, universities, American businesses, international organisations, other governments, trade and professional associations, faith-based organisations, and other U.S. government agencies.
