South Sudan

South Sudan became the world’s newest country on 9 July 2011 upon its independence from Sudan. However, it is also one of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable countries, as it now works to recover from years of protracted conflict and underdevelopment.

Medair’s overall goal in South Sudan is to increase access to health care and nutrition services, safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, and, in cases of acute crisis, emergency relief services.

We have been working in South Sudan since 1991, and we employ approximately 30 internationally recruited staff (IRS), 24 Kenyan recruited staff (KRS), and 210 nationally recruited staff (NRS).
