Somalia/Somaliland
Violent conflict, political instability, debilitating drought, and high food prices have led Somalia/Somaliland into one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
The long list of deadly problems in the region includes high rates of child malnutrition, maternal mortality, and outbreaks of preventable disease.
In Somaliland, Medair works to improve access to life-saving nutrition services, as well as providing basic health services, clean water, proper sanitation, and emergency responses as needed.
We have been working in Somalia/Somaliland since July 2008 and are currently employing 11 international and Kenyan staff, and 29 national staff.

Note: Somaliland declared itself independent from Somalia in 1991. Its independence has not been recognised by the international community.
