Baroness Cox visits Renk
Last month, Baroness Caroline Cox and her colleague Dr Lydia Tanner visited the town of Renk in Upper Nile State, South Sudan. Her aim was to meet with some of the 375,000 returnees arriving from Sudan, to hear their stories and understand their needs in order to be able to bring a sharper focus on the issues currently affecting the troubled new country of South Sudan.
Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) accompanied the Baroness to Mina Camp, where she visited our mobile health clinic. They went on to visit another more recently formed settlement known as Payuer. Here she interviewed returnees who had arrived just two weeks earlier. She showed a lot of compassion as she listened to their tragic stories.
Baroness Cox told us she was very impressed by our work in Renk to support the returnees through health care, water and sanitation activities, and that she especially valued the chance to hear their stories personally. “Medair is a great organisation,” she said. “Thank you so much for your support.”

Baroness Cox is introduced to a member of our Nutrition Team in our mobile clinic at Mina Camp.
