2. Handling information
2.1 Normal website usage
You can browse Medair.org without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. The only information we gather during l browsing is from standard server logs. These include your IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, and information such as the website that referred you to us, the files you download from Medair.org, the pages you visit on Medair.org, and the dates/times of those visits.
2.2 Collection of personal identifiable information
If you register for Medair e-communications, request information, apply for a job, donate or pay for the Relief and Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC), you will be asked to provide personal information such as first and last name, postal address, email address, phone number and birth date. Beyond that we collect information about your areas of interest and interpret your individual user behavior by analysing the clicks within the communications which we send you by email. We capture and save more information than just your email address for being able to send you more targeted and more interesting communications. The provision of information by you in addition to your email address is voluntary. By providing personal data to us, you consent to the collection and processing of that personal data about you, in order for us to send information which we feel may be of interest to you.
Medair saves all the personal information which you transmit to us as long as you are interested in receiving communication of Medair. On request you can have access to your saved personal information at any time.
For certain Medair.org sites, when you register or supply personal information, the site sets a “cookie.” By setting a cookie, Medair is able to remember your details the next time you visit, so you don’t have to re-enter any information. This helps us to provide you with a more personalised browsing environment.
2.2.1 What is a Cookie?
A “cookie” is something that websites use to anonymously identify visitors to their site. It is a small amount of data that gets sent to a user’s browser from a website's computer, and then gets stored on that user’s hard drive. Each website can send its own cookie to a user’s browser, if the browser's preferences have been set to allow it. To protect privacy, browsers only permit a website to access the cookies that it has sent, not the cookies sent by other sites. Many sites send a cookie whenever a user visits their website, in order to track online traffic flow.
Cookies record information about a user’s online preferences. Users have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or to not receive cookies at any time. However, if users choose not to accept cookies, certain personalised services cannot be provided to that user, and they may not be able to take full advantage of all of the Medair.org features. Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. For further information on cookies, please visit www.aboutcookies.org.
