Medair.org Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to Medair. This privacy statement describes Medair’s policy concerning the gathering and sharing of visitors’ information through the Medair website; information on intellectual property;, and a disclaimer. It applies to all “Medair sites” – that is, all sites within the Medair domain name: “medair.org; medair.ch; medair.nl; medair.ork.uk; medair.fr; medair-canada.org”.

For the purposes of this privacy statement, all sites within the Medair domain name will be referred to as Medair.org.

2. Handling information

2.1 What information is being collected?

You can browse Medair.org without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. The only information we gather during l browsing is from standard server logs. These include your IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, and information such as the website that referred you to us, the files you download from Medair.org, the pages you visit on Medair.org, and the dates/times of those visits.

2.2 How do we collect information?

If you register for the Medair newsletter, request information, apply for a job, or join an electronic mailing list, you will be asked to provide personal information such as your name, postal address, and email address. This information is collected only with your knowledge and permission, and is kept in various Medair databases and mailing lists.

For certain Medair.org sites, when you register or supply personal information, the site sets a “cookie”. By setting a cookie, Medair is able to remember your details the next time you visit, so you don’t have to re-enter any information. This helps us to provide you with a more personalised browsing environment.

2.2.1 What is a Cookie?

A “cookie” is something that websites use to anonymously identify visitors to their site. It is a small amount of data that gets sent to a user’s browser from a website's computer, and then gets stored on that user’s hard drive. Each website can send its own cookie to a user’s browser, if the browser's preferences have been set to allow it. To protect privacy, browsers only permit a website to access the cookies that it has sent, not the cookies sent by other sites. Many sites send a cookie whenever a user visits their website, in order to track online traffic flows.

Cookies record information about a user’s online preferences. Users have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or to not receive cookies at any time. However, if users choose not to accept cookies, certain personalised services cannot be provided to that user, and they may not be able to take full advantage of all of the Medair.org features. Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. For further information on cookies, please visit www.aboutcookies.org.
